A three-day cold weather alert is in place for Cambridgeshire as the Met Office forecast predicts low temperatures. A cold weather alert is in place from 9am on Wednesday (January 1) to 9am on Saturday (January 4), as issued by the UK Health Security Agency.
The agency warns that the cold weather is likely to impact health and social care services. It said there is “greater risk to life of vulnerable people” while the warning is in place.
The Met Office forecast shows temperatures dropping for the first few days of 2025, with temperatures in Cambridge hovering around 0C. There will be highs of 4C while the cold weather alert is in place, with lows dipping to -3C at times.

The forecast said: “Wednesday, windy with some heavy rain perhaps turning wintry as it clears overnight. Much colder Thursday and Friday with coastal wintry showers and strong winds gradually easing.”
Over the weekend, there is a chance that rain will fall as snow as it runs into colder air. The weather will settle from around January 6.
