People from Liverpool will always feel a sense of pride about coming from such a great and historic city. From generation to generation we often look back on our childhoods with fond memories.
It doesn’t matter what region you grace from, there are memories we all have wherever we were born across Merseyside. And what makes the city such a special place to call home is the people, landmarks and the overall cultural significance we have had over the decades.
The people are known widely as caring, kind, funny and above all generous. Last month, Liverpool was crowned the most generous city in the UK by by GoFundMe. This sense of community is nothing new and we want to remind you of the city from decades long gone yet they stick long in the memory. From buildings to streets and fashion.
Although the images show the city centre differently to how you may know it, there are still a lot of similarities and Liverpool’s most iconic streets including Bold Street and Castle street are difficult to mistake no matter what the decade.
We have found 12 photos which highlight the changing face of Liverpool city centre as different generations will remember it, with images of 1950s Liverpool through to the city centre in the early 00s. We want you to be able to see the world through your parents and grandparents eyes, or from the eyes of your younger self.
